About the client
3CS Cleaning Services is a Northern Ireland company led by Glenn, with more than 45 years of industry experience. It cleans canopies and ductwork to TR19 fire safety standards, tests fire dampers and installs commercial extraction and ventilation for restaurants, hotels, factories, schools and councils, from Belfast to Cork.
The challenge
The business was turning over more than £600,000 a year and paying its accountants £4,500 a year for its limited company accounts. That is money straight off the bottom line, every year, for work that should be routine.
- £4,500 a year in accountancy fees
- A growing business with more income to account for each year
- Limited company deadlines that still had to be met on time
- Three operations managers, with work that was not running as efficiently as it could
What Palm did
Free call
We looked at what 3CS was paying, what it was getting for the money and what a limited company of its size actually needs.
Handover
We collected the records and dealt with the previous accountants, so the switch took no time away from the business.
All the Ltd accounts
We took over all of their Ltd company accounts and filings.
Fixed yearly fee
One clear price of £1,200 a year, so there are no surprise bills.
Operations and enquiries
Beyond the accounts, we set up and run the operations processes and handle incoming enquiries, so jobs and new customers are looked after with one fewer operations manager.
What changed
- Accountancy fees down from £4,500 to £1,200 a year
- A saving of £3,300 every year, about 73%
- The same limited company accounts, handled for a business turning over £600k+
- Operations processes and enquiries handled by Palm
- Three operations managers down to two, saving around £30,000 a year
Lessons for other owners
Many owners stay with the same accountant for years without checking what they pay against what they get. For a limited company of this size, the accounts are important, but they should not cost thousands a year. And once the numbers are clear, it is easier to see where else the business is paying for work that could be done better and for less, such as operations.
